Your legacy can make a lasting difference

By leaving a gift for the Foundation in your will, you can make a difference. What do you have to do?

When your solicitors are next updating your will, simply ask them to include a gift to the Catherine Bullen Foundation. It doesn't cost anything extra, if you are already revising your will.

If you leave money and possessions worth more than a set value, currently £325,000, your beneficiaries may have to pay 40% Inheritance Tax on the amount over that threshold. £325,000 may seem a great deal of money but, if you include your home, you could find your savings and possessions add up to more than that. However donations to charity are exempt from tax so anything you leave to CBF is free of Inheritance Tax and we will receive the full amount. Ask your solicitor about the best ways to use your will to reduce tax.

Here is a sample form of wording for those who would like to prepare a bequest in favour of CBF: 'I bequeath to the Catherine Bullen Foundation (a tenth/a quarter/a half, etc) of the residue of my estate, free of tax and duty, to be applied to the general purposes of the said Catherine Bullen Foundation, and I declare that the receipt of the Honorary Treasurer or other authorised official for the time being of the said Catherine Bullen Foundation shall be sufficient discharge of the bequest'.

If you decide to include us, we would love to know. Any information you give us will be treated in the strictest confidence.
